Services Offered
Newborn Care Class
Ideal for first time parents. This is a private class
designed to support your needs. I meet with you in your
home (Marin County or San Francisco only). Breastfeeding,
baby care and my special baby secrets are discussed. Parents
who have taken this class tell me it is NOT a repeat of
other newborn care classes taught through the hospital.
You will learn how to cope with crying, how to read your
baby’s needs, and how to get into a good rhythm
from the day you bring the baby home. Price is dependent
on how many hours you book. Usually it takes 2-3 hours.
Price: $100 per hour
Breastfeeding
This is a private class designed to help you prepare
for breastfeeding your baby. We discuss the first few
weeks, positioning, latching, pumping and milk production.
Breast pumps and supplies are also discussed. This is
a class tailored to your needs and usually lasts 1-2 hours.
Men are definitely invited to join their wives. Taught
in your home (Marin County or San Francisco only.)
Price: $100 per hour.
Private lactation consultations are available in your
home after the baby arrives.
Marsha Podd, R.N. is a certified lactation specialist.
Infant, Child, and Adult CPR
Everyone should know what to do in case of an emergency
and someone stops breathing. Caregivers or parents with
young children under age 5 are especially encouraged to
know how to perform choke saving techniques and rescue
breathing and cardiac compressions. It only takes a few
minutes without oxygen to cause brain damage or death
in small children. The paramedics don’t get to the
home fast enough to save most children’s lives,
thus it is critical for parents to know these skills.
Depending on how many segments you want to learn, each
one takes 1-2 hours (infant, child, or adult). Review
classes usually take less time. (Marin County or San Francisco
only.) It is recommended people who are around young children
take this class yearly.
Price: $30-45 per person depending on size of group and
if American Red Cross Certification is needed.
Pediatric First Aid
This class is for caregivers or parents who want to feel
more comfortable with treating accidents in young children.
We will discuss falls, head trauma, broken bones, cuts
and scrapes, choke saving, broken teeth, as well as other
trauma. When to go to the hospital, when to call 911,
and when to treat your child at home will be discussed.
This is a private class taught in your home. American
Red Cross Certification is available.
Price: $30-45 per person depending on size of group.
Infant or Toddler Sleep Consultations
Marsha Podd, R.N. will help you create a loving approach
to better sleep. Whether your family co-sleeps or your
child is in another room, night waking can be a problem
for your family.
Family history, sleep environment, health, feedings and
sleep cycles will be discussed. No matter how many books
you have read, this is designed to be a support system
to help your family develop better sleeping habits. Initial
evaluation and consultation usually takes 1-2 hours and
can be either by telephone or in your home. It is recommended
that you also have 3-4 follow-up sessions of 15-30 minutes
each.
Price: $125 per hour
